I know I'm kind of beating a dead horse here -- but I'm surprised, with Apple's recent announcement, that know one has commented here on this... Plex, another great media server product, as of last week was the first one out of the gate with native 1080p mkv / mp4 H.264 acceleration on 9400M nVidia macs (and it works amazingly well) -- with adobe's Flash software following suit. So I wonder how long we will have to wait until the Boxee dev team acknowledges this and gets working on it...maybe they already are?? Go Boxee!! :)

The difference between Plex and Boxee is that Boxee works with XBMC upstream.

Sometimes core player features are add by XBMC--VDPAU on Linux--and sometimes by Boxee--DXVA on Windows.

Likely, the two teams are working out who will implement h.264 acceleration on Mac. It will come in due time, and likely to both applications around the same time.

Well, there you have it. You can expect to see it a future build of Boxee.

As always, you sir are the man. On behalf of the Boxee community, I thank you guys (Team-XBMC) for being epic. :D

Hardware H.264 would be great, any timeframe?

Any update on this? 1080p VC-1 plays perfectly but Boxee often has trouble viewing the 1080p H.264 titles, particularly when they're being streamed across the network.

I have Boxee Beta 0.9.23.15885 running on Snow Leopard with no hardware acceleration with my 1080p h.264 m2ts file. Plex however, plays the file back with full hardware acceleration. So does VLC.

Why don't I get HW acceleration in Boxee? It is enabled in the settings.
