All,
If I have a movie split into 2 xvid files(exx mymovie1.xvid mymovie2.xvid) will boxee automatically queue up the next file and load it(seamlessly??) when the first file completes?

Hi Gustovier,
If the movie was identified and it split into parts, Boxee queue the parts and play them consecutively.

Boxee/XBMC will not identify "mymovie1.xvid and mymovie2.xvid" as a two part movie for the obvious reason that simply 1,2,3 is used for movie sequals.
You need to name your movie files -part1 and part2 or -CD1 and -CD2 (or a dot instead of a dash)
examples
DieHard-part1.avi
DieHard-part2.avi
ToyStory.part1.avi
ToyStory.part2.avi
UrbanLegend-CD1.avi
UrbanLegend-CD2.avi
X-Men.CD1.avi
X-Men.CD2.avi

1st question:
If my movie files look like this will boxee recognize them as part 1 & part 2 of a single movie?
Die Hard - CD1.avi (are the spaces ok?)
Die Hard - CD2.avi
Each movie is placed in its own folder [Die Hard] with a folder.jpg image.
2nd question:
How does boxee recognize movies that are not listed in a movie data base? Do they still show up in the movie/video list in boxee? Say a home movie or a web video.
Thank you in advance
Chris

The names you have above are perfect. Spaces, dots or - are fine. Though, both files can be in the same folder together with the folder.jpg image. I have mine like this and they index and fine.
Though, you may want the year of the movie too:
Die Hard 2003 - CD1.avi and Die Hard 2003 - CD2.avi
(I just made up the year 2003 ;) )
Home videos do not show up unless the name is similar to something on IMDB which can cause you all sorts of confusion. So don't add the folder as a smb share like you did for your movies.
Until some additional updates for boxee come out just for this sort of thing, put them in a folder and name them as you wish. Say: Home Movies
Then via the Folders icon brows to that folder. Now open the left side menu and add it to your favorites or shortcut. This is the only way to get quick access to them without setting them up for indexing and mixing up with all your commercial movies.

Whatever you do, just make sure it's consistent. Nightmares happen w/o consistency. I finally decided on a system that works for me personally. Once you find something that works best for you, stick with it.
Examples (Movies with multiple Discs, Versions, or Parts):
The Lord of the Rings- Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Disc 1].mp4
The Lord of the Rings- Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Disc 2].mp4
Dune (1984) [Extended Cut].mp4
Dune (1984) [Theatrical Release].mp4
Lonesome Dove (1989) [Part I].mp4
Lonesome Dove (1989) [Part II].mp4
Lonesome Dove (1989) [Part III].mp4
Lonesome Dove (1989) [Part IV].mp4
