I've searched and searched and can't figure this out. I have a Mac Mini running boxee. Video is running through HDMI (through a converted obviously) and audio is going from MM (Mac Mini) into optical into a Bose V20 (again through a converted). Audio works great in just about everything, but occasionally I will get try to play a video from Reddit or You Tube and the audio will not play (video is fine) and then I won't be able to get audio to work on anything until I close and reopen Boxee. Some apps, such as Game Trailers HD, never play sound at all. I've checked Boxees sound level and the desktops, both are up. Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix?

I'm having the exact same issue. It seems to be more with the apps the use a flash based video playing system - audio is there maybe 10% of the time, if I'm lucky. Similar setup, mini-dvi for video output to tv and optical audio out to receiver. All local media audio plays fine.

Thanks, I'm opening a support ticket. I'll post back when I hear more from Boxee support.

I began experiencing the same problem after the most recent update....
I'm running on a mac mini, both audio and video are outputted into a single hdmi cable using the following adapter: http://kanexlive.com/products/item.aspx?id=3495
What is strange is when the audio cuts out I will visit the mac mini desktop and the audio icon there is muted, and un-muting is not an option... not even in the sound preferences menu. Exiting boxee will sometimes restore audio, other times it requires a full reboot.
I've been with Boxee since alpha and taken most bugs and fixes in stride... This one however is really starting to bug me... I hate having to reboot in the middle of a boxee session... Otherwise keep up the great work!

This is typical procedure on a mac outputting digital audio. Usually the device it's outputting to will be in full control over the volume and the macs just there to send the digital signal.

This may be, but I've never had this issue with Plex or XBMC. This is only happening in Boxee.

Thanks for the clarification on the volume icon. This however does not change the fact that forcibly quitting boxee (because I can't get it to close in any other manner) and reopening it tends to resolve the issue. Perplexing indeed:confused:

Still waiting to hear back on my help ticket from Boxee, but I'm sure we'll see something soon. Again, I have local files playing no problem, just web apps, like reddit sometimes or game trailers have issues and require a force quit.

My audio issue happens when I start a show in the Netflix app. The audio changes devices from 'digital out' to 'line out'. I am able to change it back, but the bug returns each time Boxee is restarted.
