I remember months ago I plugged in my Microsoft Media Center Edition IR Remote and it worked fine. (This was using Windows 7.)
I just did it today and I cannot get it working! The light on the IR receiver flashes when I press a button on the remote, but there is no response from the computer. I've tried using Boxee, Windows Media Center, and XBMC.
