View Full Version : Boxee stops importing?

Since Boxee couldn't recognize my video files, I moved and renamed them so Boxee could recognize them. I deleted all my old media sources and added the iTunes folder for my music and a Boxee folder which contains all of my videos.

Boxee imported a few of these tv-shows and gladly recognized them. However, after 4 tv-shows, nothing seems to happen anymore. No more tv-shows are being added. When I go to the Movies section, it does say that Boxee is scanning the Movies folder on my computer, but also none of my videos are showing up here.

Is this possible, do I have to wait even longer?
Thanks.

Have you tried restarting Boxee? How long have you waited for the indexing of TV Shows and how many shows do you have?

I restarted Boxee multiple times. It's done importing my tv shows now (about 300 episodes), but I still have only 13 movies instead of 18. I'm waiting for these 5 movies for a few hours, but nothing seems to happen.

Could be that Boxee/IMDB can't resolve those last five titles -- what are their filenames? (Glad to hear that the TV Shows are showing up).

Bruno (2009) - incorrectly
Borat Cultural Learnings of America (2006)
Goal! (2005)
Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa (2008)
Nickelback Live at Sturgis (2006)

But then, I can understand that Boxee somehow can't find the right information. But why can't Boxee import these files? They're having the same extensions as the other files, if it's a video file, Boxee should import it, right?

Boxee won't show them under TV Shows or Movies unless it can "resolve" the name of the movie/show.

You can still watch them on Boxee by using the Files browser from the Boxee Home screen -- browse to the actual file and select it for play back.

Regarding your item above, using imdb.com to double check the titles, you might try:

1) Brüno (2009)
[needs umlaut?]
2) Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
[ugh that's long]
3) Goal! The Dream Begins
[US title]
4) Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008)
[can you try it with a colon?]
5) Nickelback: Live from Sturgis (2007)
[three results at imdb for this one...]

Boxee now uses the IMDB so for now, search there and do your best to match their titles...

Changed the names, now waiting for Boxee to see the changes.

It's a little weird that Boxee can't import the files unless it can't find the metadata, it should import video files regardless of the title. However, since it's still in beta... :D

Thanks for your help.
