Tried updating to the "new" beta and am unable to get it to fully launch. A very brief window pops up then boxee crashes. Deleted boxee and all user folders, reinstalled and tried again. Same results.

Are you running Snow Leopard Server?

Could you post your System Profiler information?

The reason I ask is because another user on the XBMC forums reported a similar problem:
http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66151

It appears it was a graphics/display issue. Their computer wasn't recognizing the proper hardware, but when they upgraded their SnowLeopard server, it solved the problem...

When you access your Graphics/Displays option under your System Profiler, do you see any error prompts, or messages that seem unusual?

i received this same error today.

i have boxee loaded on a mac mini which goes to my receiver and then to the tv. i access the mini through screen sharing on my macbook pro.

boxee crashed sometime during the night and i couldn't re-launch it this morning. i tried re-installing, deleting the user data, etc. nothing helped. as soon as i turned on the receiver and tv, boxee loaded up without any problems.

this appears to be an issue exclusive to macminis

@mayboy and shaun:

Please open a ticket on jira.boxee.tv and report your issues

1) create an advancedsettings.xml file in your UserData folder
2) Attempt to open boxee and recreate issue
3) Open jira ticket will full explanation of your issues. Attach your boxee.log file
4) Please post a link to the jira ticket in this thread so that others can vote in support of the problem.

I also have my mini setup as a media server with an HDMI output to my receiver and use screen sharing. Once I turn the receiver on everything works as it should. It appears the problem Boxee is having is not being able to run when a monitor is not detected.

I have the same error & same configuration. Here's what I found:

1. display device on my mini is my TV; TV is turned on & set to the mini
2. using screen sharing, connect to mini & start boxee
3. identical crash message as reported by others

However, with exactly the same setup, using the air mouse app on my iphone to connect to my mini & starting boxee via the mini's dock, it runs just fine. I still have screen sharing running, but wasn't using it to start boxee.

After experiencing this very same problem a few times and trying the same suggestions as mentioned here I found the very simple solution...
I turned my TV on and voila, Boxee opened without a problem.... Stupid!
