View Full Version : folder.jpg should always be used as preferred thumbnail

I have all of my movies arranged into separate folders. Each has the movie poster in the directory with the videos. The poster image is named "folder.jpg". Boxee still goes out and tries to find the posters. Sometimes, it can't find the poster on the internet so it creates a thumbnail from the video. This occurs even when the poster is sitting right on the local hard disk. :-)
I have even deleted the ~/.boxee/UserData/profiles/tale/Thumbnails/Videos directory and the same behavior repeats as it loads the images.
This is a bug.

hi tale
boxee does not support "folder.jpg" in library mode (movie, tvshow screens) you can select the folder as "private"(the only problem will be your main libraries will always been empty) so boxee will not scan it ,so if you go to videos>sources >specific share you will see your media with the folder.jpg ...

It is a future feature. He's right. If a user goes to the trouble to put a specific folder.jpg in a folder with media; we need to honor that. We can then go out and get the additional meta data (review, actors, etc) to supplement that image.
Obviously we negate this manual folder.jpg need in the future, but must respect it for users who add the artwork at their considerable expense of time...

Has this been implemented?
I am also thinking about the Boxee Box and all the people who have movies on a NAS that dosent have covers on IMDB...but have scanned and edited their own folder.jpg to every folder :D

No it has not been implemented as of yet.
THis is a pre Beta thread, and I think this has since been suggested in the Feature Request section of the forums.
