I am using Boxee on a Mac Mini (late '08 model) and some weird stuff is happening:

1) I want my apps organized from A-Z, but I can't get that setting to stay on A-Z. Everytime I close Boxee and go back in, the apps are arranged in most popular mode.

2) I can't get my Boxee to scrape my album art directly from iTunes. I also noticed several black boxes/blanks in my album art section.

3) How do I import movies from iTunes? I downloaded Top Gun yesterday and can't figure out how to import that movie. Also, does Boxee scrape movie posters and other cool stuff from the internet like Plex and XBMC do?

4) Several apps don't work. There are too many to name so this is the best I can do right now.

5) Can I disable the social part of Boxee? Some people may like that, but it is useless to me.

6) Is there a way to get all content from Boxee in HD? The standard def stuff looks horrible on the new tv's. Come on, we are in the HD digital age!

7) To be honest, I am not crazy about the weird Boxee icon. It kinda looks elementary and goofy. I know this is Boxee's thing, but maybe you guys can update this logo to something more modern and adult-like.

On a positive note, Boxee seems to be easier to set-up and utilize than Plex and XBMC.

1) I want my apps organized from A-Z, but I can't get that setting to stay on A-Z. Everytime I close Boxee and go back in, the apps are arranged in most popular mode.

Known issue: http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-3533

3) How do I import movies from iTunes? I downloaded Top Gun yesterday and can't figure out how to import that movie. Music and videos from the iTunes store that have DRM won't play back in Boxee (or any other media player other than Apple's)

Also, does Boxee scrape movie posters and other cool stuff from the internet like Plex and XBMC do?

Boxee has licensed the IMDB database and so that's the source of the posters and other media information. I don't think any kind of fanart functionality has been incorporated.

4) Several apps don't work. There are too many to name so this is the best I can do right now. Welcome to the world of beta testing :)

5) Can I disable the social part of Boxee? Some people may like that, but it is useless to me. Login to http://www.boxee.tv/ then go to Account / Privacy and adjust your settings accordingly.

6) Is there a way to get all content from Boxee in HD? The standard def stuff looks horrible on the new tv's. Come on, we are in the HD digital age! Not currently. I'm sure it'll be back in a future release.

I like the potential of this thing, but there clearly is some work to be done. The logo thing is just a personal preference I guess so please don't take this personally.

A couple more issues that came to me:

1) I said several of the apps don't work. One is radiotime, which is my favorite because I love talk radio. I Listen to it everyday.

2) Boxee crashed on me like ten times in the matter of an hour.

3) It also keeps telling me some apps are geo something something and won't play.

Thanks for the hard work

Is it all radio stations in the Radiotime app? I just tried it for the first time in a long time and randomly picked a local station (KBOO) and it worked fine...

This is what I get everytime I try to play something:

Error. [Errno socket error] (61, 'Connection refused')

I'm also having no luck with the Shoutcast radio app

I noticed that the proxy server box was checked so I unchecked it and the Shoutcast radio app started working great! I checked a couple others like Radiotime and Vimeo, but they still do not work. It is clear that the proxy was hindering my connection. A quick question about proxies: I read that proxies are good, but I really don't know how to use them. I also would like to know why there is a proxy option included in the Boxee app?

Proxies: are you referring to the kind that are set up, typically in the workplace to control access from the internal network to the internet? Or are you talking about public proxies, some of which can be used to provide access to content from other countries? If so, these often overloaded and/or untrustworthy.

Unless you know you need one and why, I wouldn't try using one :)

What stations are you trying with Radiotime (and zip code)? I haven't had any problems with three local stations now.

And which videos or channel are you trying with Vimeo?

that I was curious about. I personally don't need a proxy.

it gives me an error screen or something. Shoutcast was doing the same thing for me the other day until I turned that proxy setting off.
