If you have a HDTV connected to your iMac then you know there is not a way to turn off the iMac screen without turning off the HDTV screen! even if you low the brightness to 0 the iMac screen still is on (not like the MacBook) so i try everything and finally i found i way to turn off the iMac screen without turning off the HDTV screen.
All you have to do is download this software: http://www.splasm.com/brightnesscontrol/index.html
Then turn the iMac brightness to 0, open the app and turn the app slide to the left, the screen will be like 95% off (sorry, there is no way to turn off 100%) this way you can enjoy boxee even if your iMac is next to your HDTV.
I hope this can help you.

This just dimmed both displays for me. I couldn't change them independently.

Here's what I did (on Mac 10.6.2):
-In your home folder go to /Library/Application Support/BOXEE/
-Find the file "guisettings.xml"
-Open with text editor
-Go to the <videoscreen> section
#it's easier just to hit command+f and search "blanking"
-Change displayblanking to 1
-save the file and close
That worked for me.

But I don't really want to blank the screen as much as I want it to dim automatically without interrupting the video on my second display. Sometimes I like to keep using my iMac while a movie is running.
