FF and REW scanning

I was using the Boxee alpha with a "Mobile Edge Presenter Plus" wireless remote (http://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Edge-MEAP02-Slim-Line-Presenter/dp/B000LSXC06) and in one of the modes, the FF and REW buttons worked to SCAN through the media, like FF and REW traditionally work, and did not go back or forward in jumps as Boxee normally behaves. In fact, this mode allowed me to do everything i wanted EXCEPT for "back" (escape).

Unfortunately my dog chewed up my remote before the beta came out and I have not replaced it yet so I am now just using a wireless keyboard. However, I would like to know what is needed to use this scanning behavior. What remotes support it and/or can I assign a keyboard button to do this? Thanks!

I think that this true fastforward and rewind has been removed from Boxee in the Beta. Previously in the Alpha the keys R and F on the keyboard would do this, and I mapped the fastforward and rewind buttons on the remote to those keys. However, this no longer works and R and F do nothing.
