Ok so i have to start out saying i just stumbled upon Boxee about a week ago and i am head over heels in love with it, but i am a total noob and i scoured the forums for as long as my eyes could take it and i tried everything i found but nothing will make my DVD backups show up under the Movies section.

now i'll get into as much detail as i can here so bare with me...

I'm running windows vista, Boxee Version 0.9.20.10261, all my media and boxee itself are on a 1TB WD MyBook External USB hard drive, i have tried saving them as .ISO and in the original VIDEO_TS format (my preference) but to no avail.

i can play the movies by going to Files and browsing to the VIDEO_TS.ifo file and it plays no problem but i want my computer illiterate girlfriend to be able to click on the Movies tab and brows around until she sees something shiny and clicks on it.

Also interestingly enough the ONE movie that does show up is in .avi format, the movie is "Taken" but boxee labeled it as "Kung Fu Panda" and i have tried every variation of file naming i can think of but nothing will change Boxee's mind.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Please read the First STop link in my sig.

There are several things to consider also:

1-ISO is supported and not TS
2-Indexing is slow and some movies are being labeled incorrectly (see First Stop).
2b-A fix is in the works and will be released in a future build.
3-There is currently no way to manually fix those movies. (see First STop)
4-While in First STop--also read all info on driver and add in updates for windows. I put everything you will need in there to get most video types to play correctly on Windows machines. ;)
