View Full Version : Crashing on entering folders with multiple HD video files

Whenever I enter a directory that has more than 2 video files of a certain type (720p H.264 .mkv with subtitles) boxee just crashes. There is a delay, so I assume it has something to do with loading the preview thumbnails, but the delay is not long enough that I am able to start one of the videos. The only solution I found to watching these files is to put each file I want ot watch into a seperate directories (1 or 2 is okay, but any more will result in the crash), but this is really a pain. I've recreated this problem on 2 different (Ubuntu 8.04) computers running both network and local sources, and it happens with two different sets of files that are in the same format, so I assume it is not a specific file causing the problem. Also, this was a problem on both the older versions and the new one that was just released.

So, I was wondering if anybody else has run into this problem and if anybody has any easier workarounds. Thank you.

try disabling thumbnail creation... un-check:
settings > video > general > generate thumbnails for video with no cover art.

please post back your results, to help team-boxee narrow down the bug.

That did the trick. Doesn't look as nice, but functionality comes first.

agreed... if it helps any, this is a very well-known bug... i'm sure it's near the top, for the team.
