Option in Boxee to submit Music (albums), movies, and TV-Shows to your Amazon Wish List.

When you listen to last.fm, SHOUTcast, watch trailers or get recommended a song, a movie, or a TV-Show.

Why? Because some people just want a 'hard copy' as well, if is is an Compact Disc (Audio-CD), a DVD-Video movie, Blu-ray, or a TV-series season box-set.

Amazon.com has API for these kinds of things, checkout:

PS! I got the idea from TiVo but the difference is they let you buy stuff directly and do no have the wishlist feature that I suggested above.

makes perfect sense, and should not be too hard to integrate

This Amazon.com wishlist feature could later be extended as well to list items on your and your friends wishlists in Boxee, ...and someday maybe even to buy stuff that are listed on yours and your friends wishlists directy from Boxee, (now that would be convienent, buy already giftwrapped presents for your friends and family from your couch, and you know it is stuff they want since it is on their wish list).

Have Boxee looked into adding Amazon Associates Web Service to Boxee?

http://www.programmableweb.com/api/amazon-ecommerce

"What was formerly called Amazon ECS (eCommerce Service) has been renamed the Amazon Associates Web Service. Through this API developers can retrieve product information. The API exposes Amazon's product data and e-commerce functionality. This allows developers, web site publishers and others to leverage the data that Amazon uses to power its own business, and potentially make money as an Amazon affiliate. Both REST and SOAP APIs are provided, this profile is for the REST API"

Add "Buy now or add to cart", "Add to wishlist" and such to the Music, Movie, (and TV-Show) information views in Boxee GUI for those items available on Audio-CD, DVD-Video, or Blu-ray.

I would think that it would be especially effective when viewing a recommended movie-trailer, or plugin views when listening to music on last.fm, or watching a movie or TV-show on from an online source. For example the user is listing to a playlist on last.fm when they hear a new song that they just love, they click "Buy now or add to cart" and there they get the pop-up option to add the album to Amazon Shopping Cart in order to be able go back later to purchase it or choose to buy it directly and have it shipped home to them right away, (though maybe have it so that Boxee queues all orders so that it only sends out one order to Amazon every 24-hours, but that could be made optional from Boxee services settings, with a pop-up to sent the cart queue to Amazon on shutdown/suspend of Boxee as well).

+1 for the feature, +1 for the revenue model...

not telling you how to run you business, but i would put this near the top... this plus an option to download and mp3 album from amazon music store would be awesome!

ditto for the mp3 purchases directly from amazon. great idea and might also be a way to support the great developers.
