Please list your XBMC scripts/plugins youve been able to get working on Boxee! I'm always looking for new content and with the few scripts I've attempted to use install and show up in the list but don't actually work.

I just discovered that A&E has full episodes online. Anyone know of a plugin to pull video from this site?
Is there a straight forward howto on how to write a plugin and how to use python to pull video from a site?

funny you ask, i just installed it today.
watched idiocracy. worked fine.
the movie playback success is hit-or-miss, but that's not a reflection of the plugin.

Hi All,
Do i install the plug-ins to
/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/plugins ?
or do I install it to the xbmc plugins folder?
Thanks,

I get the initial 2 categories "divx" & "flash" but when I try to enter the loading splash just spins and never shows anything. I have to back out of it to stop it.

I found that connector you were looking for
Cindy, is this the thing you were looking for?
www.liangdianup.com/computeraccessories_1.htm
It's on the list of computer accessories and parts. They have the DVI video thing to convert that jap monitor to work with your other computer. Just about any other kind of wire adaptor, usb connectors, monitor extension wires, ps2 extention wires, and all kinds of female and male swap connectors and things that I think would help your shop. If that above link don't work then goto www.lducompany.com and click on computer accessories. Let me know if that is what you need and give me your email address again.

HOLY SHIT ... WHAT?!?!?
That is possibly the greatest thing I have ever heard in regards to streaming music. I have been a user of XBMC since it was XBMP and i never knew there was a plugin/script for archive/etree. Wow. I can't wait to try this out. Was it hard to get the script working?

Think it would be useful if...
a) this were a sticky
b) a mod (or orginal post author) could keep the first post updated with the complete list of working/broken plugs, with some basic info for each plug-in eg....
- tested to be working on (list platforms from Mac, ATV, Linux, Win)
- tested to be partially working on (list platforms from Mac, ATV, Linux, Win) with the following issues (list issues)
- not yet tested
- plug-in version
Would suggest that the list only be applicable to the latest version of Boxee, and either be updated, or a new thread started when a new Boxee version is released.
Happy to help and keep the post maintained and up to date with user responses as to plug-in status.
Unfortunately, at the moment, this thread is not only hard to get a consolidated view, but also is impossible to know what versions of plugs are being referenced, and on what Boxee version

I've tried out a couple of plug-ins here and I've gotten everything to work so far except the Mythbusters one, which kinda of stinks. I'm running the Linux form of Boxee, so that may have some effect. I get an invalid RSS Feed everytime I try to access it. Here are the ones I've gotten so far that work fine on the Linux version:
[Adult Swim]
Animeseed
Instantz Anime

I have tried few plugins from and none of them work on my boxee (e.g. Animeseed, Instantz Anime) . Does it have to do with the fact I am using Mac OSX? Anybody's thinking of adding a wiki page to list the plugins that work on which platform?

I can't get any of them to work I am running on Linux. I copy the folder to:
.boxee/plugin/video/
I open boxee go to Video / Browse / Add Source / Manual Add Source.
Give my source a name
path to source would be:
plugin://video/fancast
check video then add.
I showes up in my Video / Internet list, but when I click it I get an error
"Failed to retrieve data"
I need some help with this I don't know what I am missing.

Have you followed these instructions: http://boxeehq.com/howtos/installing-plugins/ ? I think the interface looks different on the current version, so the apps should be added with Settings -> Applications.
Well, did sort of follow it on the Mac, but I am still having trouble installing animeseed and instantz anime, even manually.

necro thread warning.
So I ran into this issue. With videomonkey and videodevil. I also fixed it.
You modify the sources.xml in your user folder. you add this under the video section of the xml. Yes i was lazy and used the image for tedtalks. The directory on my machine (vista 64) is %rootdrive%\Users\%YourUsername%\AppData\Roaming\B OXEE\userdata\profiles\%profileforboxee%
in short with all the crap filled in it looks like this on vista.
E:\Users\bstag\AppData\Roaming\BOXEE\userdata\prof iles\bstag
on XP
E:\Documents and settings\bstag\Application data\BOXEE\userdata\profiles\bstag
Replace the E: with what ever drive windows is installed on and bstag with you username/profile name.
<source>
<name>VideoMonkey</name>
<path>app://VideoMonkey/</path>
<thumbnail>http://ted.streamguys.net/TEDTalksvideo_tile_144.jpg</thumbnail>
<private>true</private>
</source>
So after adding that and one for videodevil which looks the same but has videodevil instead of Videomonkey.
Make sure to copy the plugin to
\Users\bstag\AppData\Roaming\BOXEE\userdata\apps
Replacing the the stuff like i stated above. Name the folder to what you called the app. So if you call it "bobo" put it into the bobo folder.
Next step. It seems a new xml has been added that the plugins do not have.
It is called "descriptor.xml"
This is to be made in the apps folder you put the plugin into. in my case that would be "\Users\bstag\AppData\Roaming\BOXEE\userdata\apps\V ideoMonkey"
So make a new file called that with the following contents.
<app>
<id>VideoMonkey</id>
<name>VideoMonkey Tv</name>
<version>.1</version>
<type>plugin</type>
<description>VideoMonkey</description>
<platform>all</platform>
<media>video</media>
<copyright>Someone</copyright>
<email>boxee@Where.com</email>
<minversion>0.9.7</minversion>
<url>rss://rss.boxee.tv/npr.xml</url>
</app>
A really important part above is "<id>VideoMonkey</id>" If you made different folder name change this to the folder name. It can be called bobo for all i care as long as you put the same damn thing in.
The next really important part is "<type>plugin</type>" If its a plugin you have to put that in. If its a RSS well i would guess you put in RSS. If its a URL my guess is you would put in URL.
Restart Boxee..
After i did this i was able to go to video and internet and see my multiple ted talks icons one named videomonkey. Open it up and it works.
Now if parts of videomonkey do not work which happened to me i cant controll that unless i feel like breaking out my python books and staring at the screen for a while. questions on why i won't do this refer to the i am lazy part above.
So there you go. If it works for you great. If you cant use windows explorer or finder then please don't bother trying. For the linux guys if you cant figure it out "how in the hell did you get the os installed?"
Also i would think this would work for almost any XBMC plugin, but i am to lazy to try.
Peace.

I tried to install the videomonkey plugIn in the way bstag explained it.
On my mac. latest OS X. latest boxxe version: 0.9.9.5324.
I managed the plugIn to appear in boxee but when selecting it I got the msg: "Loading error! Fail to retrieve Data" and after that Boxee crashes.

If you are doing it on the newly released version(0.9.10)vs old(0.9.9). Then yes i have seen failure. Since i don't own a mac nor can i run the new version on windows i cant help you yet.

I've been able to get almost all the XBMC Online Repository for plugins I've tried working. For example - Mythbusters, PBS, WTSO, etc. I failed to get Scene Releases to do anything useful. I have an easynews account but I'm not clear how that ones supposed to work either.
I will occassionally get a "Failed to retrieve data" error, but I hit ESC a couple times to get back to the play video screen and it will generally load. This happens on a number of plugins. Maybe there's some timeout setting I could adjust?
I did not need to install any scripts, I simply checked out the source 'cd /opt/boxee/plugins/video && svn co http://url/ ./' and then added the applications in settings, add applications.
I just upgraded boxee to 9.9.10 (previously running a release from March.) WTSO is still working, haven't tested any of the others yet.
This is all on Hardy i686 using the official apt repo.

Can somebody tell me how to install Animeseed plugin on mac? It's really important for me:)
I installed bleach7 plugin by copying it to the plugins folder and it works. I can view some of the videos. But after copying animeseed i can only view the list of anime. None of them work.
