scanning media, external HD

I'm confused about how boxee scans mp3s in music folders. I use it on a macbook pro and it scans the local "Music" folder and seems to get all of the albums that are there fine. It has correct album and artist and found the cover art.

then i added my external USB drive. I tried doing a scan for other "local drives" but it wasn't discovered.

I manually added the path to my music on that drive as a manual source. The path something like "/Volumes/My Drive/media/Music".

Now I can browse the filesystem of that folder, but Boxee doesn't seem to automatically scan for the pattern "Artist/Album/blah.mp3" like it does on the Local Music source.

Is there any way to get that behavior?

how long has boxee been running for? it takes a while to retrieve metadata... also did you set the new path to private? if it's set to private, boxee will not scan for metadata.

lastly, are your id3 tags correct?

it seems to be picking up some albums/artists, but i guess it takes a while.

ID3 tags should all be in there, since all the music was in iTunes

I guess i just have to wait, thanks..
