what is the path you're trying to change it to?

The first time I set it I actually just set it to apparently the default value, which was located inside the boxee.app/Resources or something like that. In the UI it still said something like "Q:\boxee\screesaver" (although why it says that while I'm on a Mac i have no idea).
The second time I tried setting it to a folder inside the user's Pictures folder. E.g. /Users/greg/Pictures/somedir
After selecting the folder (both times), boxee became unresponsive and all animation on the music visualizer that was in the background stopped moving. I had music playing both times and after the current track finished playing nothing else happened. The path shown in the UI for the screensaver folder still said "Q:\boxee\screensaver" and I had to use cmd-option-escape to quit boxee.

I’ve had this issue as well. Only the default screensaver slideshow path works, changing it results in Boxee freezing when the screensaver should start.

i tried using a folder of about 20 images about ~2MB each, 1000x2000 pixels or so.

to help figure out if it's boxee choking on setting the value, or boxee not liking the path/contents could you try hand editing:
~/Library/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/guisettings.xml
and changing the value of:
<screensaver>
<dimlevel>20</dimlevel>
<mode>SlideShow</mode>
<preview></preview>
<sep1></sep1>
<slideshowpath>{**YOUR-PATH-HERE**}</slideshowpath>
<slideshowshuffle>true</slideshowshuffle>
<time>5</time>
<uselock>false</uselock>
<usemusicvisinstead>true</usemusicvisinstead>
</screensaver>
the 'q:\' thing has to do with how boxee deals with file paths internally... while odd, this is correct....
that said, it's safe to use unix-style file paths in this tag.

I am having this problem as well. Just downloaded Boxee, so I'm pretty sure I have the latest version. Using it on Mac OS X 10.5.5. When I click on the button to set the path, it pops open the path selection dialog. Once I click on OK, the dialog selection clear away, but then the application freezes.

I've got the same problem I'm using a mac mini os x 10.5 and I'm trying to set the screen saver to point to a photo file on users/myname/pictures/ ...then boxee freezes up and i have to manually shut down my computer. The photos are all about 1 - 3 MB. Love the work ya'll are doing but my wife got mad at me lastnight for spending too much time playing with Boxee!

What is the default screensaver path? I tried to change it and the system hung after playing the first track. For the time being, I just shut the screensaver off. I would like to set the path back to the default until I can get the problem sorted out.
