The first bug is (relatively) trivial. From time to time, I get messages such as:

Error

_68178caf_p_XAPP_AppException

Which I click through, seemingly to no effect.

More annoyingly, while I get sound from the interface screens (menu "pops", etc...) I am not getting audio from anything else, No MP3s, videos, or applications will make a peep. Audio worked fine previous to this.

I am running ver. 0.9.20.979811M (Dec. 14 2009)
Ubuntu Karmic

I've played around with the audio settings, but they don't seem to have any effect. Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks

If you checked the bug tracker there are several reports of these issues, but it was determined it was app specific, not an issue with Boxee itself. Check the tracker for problems with the app you were trying to use/used have been reported. If not, please report it to the tracker.

Here are 2 reports that are already up

As far as the App exceptions- thank you. I figured it was not a major issue, just added it for completeness.

Regarding the audio issue, I looked into removing pulseaudio, but the ubuntu-desktop package depends on that, and I am utilizing this machine as a desktop in addition to Boxee, so I don't want to remove that package. Is there any other method for dealing with the audio issue? As I said, the alpha worked as flawlessly as could be expected in the exact same environment (I was running it under Karmic), so I figure there must be some way to get the beta playing nice with my system. I am going to post on the feedback site as well, but I've had good luck working with the forums in the past.

Thanks

EDIT: updated to the latest beta (10069). Issue is unchanged.

I managed to resolve the issue. It was a problem in another area. Thank you to all.

What area? In case someone else has a similar problem?

I control my volume through a stereo, so I didn't notice... apparently, Boxee controls volume for media separately from the menu sounds. I could hear the menu interface sounds, but the volume for media defaulted to zero on the new install. I had set down the remote and was controlling the machine from the keyboard, where pressing the up arrow increased the volume on the playing file. I didn't think about it previously since I was hearing the sounds in the menu interface.

A bit embarrassing, but hopefully understandable...
