I was able to reproduce the full screen flicker running this ATI x1600 mobility hardware,
I've resolved the screen flickering issue on my ATI Mobility Radeon x1600.
You will need the following to solve the issue;
1) Mobility Modder, found here: http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
2) Ati Catalyst 9.11 Legacy Vista 32-64 Bit bundle version found here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.9&lang=English
3) Once downloaded you will need to extract the ATI legacy bundle, normally to C: or wherever you choose.
4) Run mobility modder install and point to the extracted directory: 9-11_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc, be patient and wait... this may take a few minutes...
5) Once mobility modder is complete close it, and run the ATI legacy setup exe located in the extracted directory by default named: 9-11_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc
Once the install is complete your new display driver version must be: 8.593.100.0
That's it... Happy Boxee...
