Not sure if this is a Beta issue or app issue... the BoXXXee and P.O.V. apps give a script error when trying to play a video. I only installed Beta last night and haven't had a chance to test again today yet. Everything I normally watch works. decided to venture into these apps, was able to get in and select whatever... only when playing pops up script error.

Bump....
My roommate is bugging the hell out of me to get her porn channels back :D
I think the App writers need to fix this. Does not look like a Boxee issue to me. I'm going to take a guess they might be more interested in getting people to sign up for Bang Bros paid content instead of fixing the free version.

we will fix this for your room mate...Thanks, she's a serious horn dog.
But don't get me wrong though, I too would appreciate the fix along with the rest of the male (majority) population using Boxee. :p

Yes, your room mate.
Well, my 'room mate' is also having this problem and would appreciate a 'fix'
:)

Yeah, well I'm serious about my room mate. I've never seen any chick this horny. She needs her Boxxxee. So do I.
Can we get this fixed sooner rather than later?

Hey fellas.
This is Ameno from BX Media Networks (creators of BoXXXee). Yeah, that error really sucks :( . It has to do with a single line of code that worked in the Alpha Boxee, but not in the beta.
We already gave the updated version to the guys at Boxee to put in the repository, along with the updated version of BangBros, and I wish they'd put it in there so you guys could get back to watching our stuff, especially since we just updated the back end (no pun intended) of the apps.
In the meantime, you can download the updated version from out of our BoXXXee repository. Add it to your repository list:
http://boxxxee.com/repository
it should be version 2.42 of BoXXXee and 1.1 of POV. Enjoy

I am sorry to report, that script error continues to happen, even with the version from your own repository.
On a side note, it appears that the BoXXXee apps don't obey the adult content lock unless they are installed from the official Boxee repository. Any chance that can be fixed as well?

Are you sure that you have removed the app completely before reinstalling? The script error is caused by something that is not in the versions in our repository, so if you are getting the script error, you are using the old version.
This is a problem we have noticed when you download apps from multiple repositories. If the app has not been completely deleted, then it will reuse the old app. We ran into these problems previously when we first were added to the main Boxee repo. You can see the fix here:
http://www.boxxxee.com/boxee/boxxxee-20-hits-the-streets/#comment-52
You need to be sure that in your apps folder you see com.bx.boxxxee or com.bx.pov (The files from our repo) and NOT com-bxb-boxxxee or com-bxb-pov. You also need to be sure that your sources.xml is pointing at those directories when referencing our apps.
Of course, the real solution is for the guys at Boxee to update their repo with the files we gave them, but until they do that, if you want the app, this is what you'll need to do :(
EDIT:
As for the adult content "lock." Apps from our repository have never required an adult content lock because we EXPLICITLY tell them to not report that they have been played ( ListItem.SetAddToHistory(False) ). This call is in the line of code that is failing with an error. If it is reporting, it is due to the error that is taking place that is not registering that explicit call.

I checked and apparently the app was available through one other repository (Fuzz's all-in-one repository) at the time I was trying it from your repository. I'l try testing again later after I remove that repository.
EDIT - I did a complete wipe of my userdata directory and only had your repository added, the app seems to install and work now.
The adult lock issue is not with it reporting activity, it is the fact that the app is available to be installed and used, despite having "hide adult content" enabled. You see, I have a child that also uses Boxee, but does not need to see or use BoXXXee. I use the content lock to enforce that (like any responsible parent). With the content lock turned on, any adult content apps from the official Boxee repository, such as BoXXXee or Suicide Girls, are hidden from view until I enter the unlock code to "unhide" them. BoXXXee from your repository (or other repositories like Fuzz's, it seems), does not obey that content lock and is still shown all the time. This is a problem that has existed for a while now; it also ocurred in the alpha.

First off, glad you got it working :)
Second. I see what you are saying about the adult lock, and I completely understand. In that case, we leave the adult lock off because there are new users (including potential investors) who do not know that such an adult lock exists (and that the default is to hide adult apps), and, if they add our repository, we want to make sure that they are not in any way prevented from seeing our apps. We had to make a business decision on that one, so I hope you understand our point of view (our success is predicated on the maximum number of people able to access our content).
One solution I can give you if it worries you is that you can create a separate account for your child, and hide your "adult" account behind a password that you have not saved locally. I actually do this on my own home system: I have one account where I have all of our adult apps (inlcuding those we are currently building and testing), and then the account for myself and guests to use to watch non-adult movies, and apps and whatever. If and when the main Boxee repo is updated with the app we gave them (even before the beta was released to the public), then you can have the adult lock back in place as it was. For now, I hope you can make one of those interim solutions work for you.

I think the only solution for me is to wait until the main Boxee repository updates. Adding an additional user takes away some of the ease of use I want from Boxee and is a hoop I should not have to jump through. Boxee has content restricting functionality for a reason and, with all due respect, I don't think your circumvention of that restriction is a sound business decision at all. The responsible thing to do would be to educate your users on how Boxee is supposed to work with adult content, not work around it. You might actually find that draws more users in. Right now, I'm sure there are more than a few like me who look at the fact that the app is always available as a very undesirable thing and I'm sure the rest don't really care either way, since they can just unlock their adult content and leave it unlocked if they choose to.
Anyway, that's just my opinion with all the usual caveats that entails. Thanks for your help!

I respect your opinion, and, as I said, we feel it was the correct business decision. I do find it pretty awesome though that you at least give us the benefit of the doubt as the smut peddlers that we are that we are interested in doing "the responsible thing" (which we most certainly are).
That being said, the great thing about Boxee is that it is open. So, we made a decision, but you and the "more than a few like you," if you are willing to spend about 5 minutes can actually go ahead and alter the apps out of our repository so that it will behave with the adult lock. :D . We aren't going to do it for you, but I am more than happy to give you the instructions on how to do so:
1. Locate the directory that contains the app in the "apps" directory of your "userdata" directory (com.bx.boxxxee and/or com.bx.pov)
2. Add the following tag to the descriptor.xml file (after the tag for <type>)
...
<type>skin</type>
<rating>adult</rating>
...
3. Locate the sources.xml file that contains the link to the app. In previous versions, it used to be located in the "profiles" directory. I am having a bit of a problem finding it in the Beta, but to be honest I haven't really dug around for it. Perhaps someone else on here can help guide you to the right location. In that file, in the <source> for the app in question, you need to include the following tag:
...
<adult>true</adult>
...
4. Enjoy your adult locked apps!
The adult lock happens locally on your machine and can be enabled and disabled per app in this manner. It isn't something we "build into" the app. I think it's certainly worth a feature request to the guys at Boxee (hint hint) that they include the option to adult lock some apps at will. In the meantime, edit those two lines and you've got what you wanted. Can you spare the 5 minutes for the FREE porn? ;)

2010 might well bring around peace on Earth.
The exchange that I just read through on page 2 of this post has to be the most cordial forum volley I've ever read. I think it's doubly impressive given that the requester was initially being deprived of pron. :D
Hats off to you gentlemen. Very well done. Doesn't hurt that you helped fix my problem. LOL

Thanks for the info. That may very well be the case.
I am happy to announce that the latest BoXXXee and BoXXXee POV apps have been updated in the main Boxee repository, and function with the adult lock. So, feel free to keep what you have or change it out for the ones in the official repo (depending on if you need the adult lock).
Stay tuned because we have a great new free app with HD content as well as a new subscription app from another perennial favorite in adult content both dropping in the next month!

Hah! Just trying to access any categories crashes Boxee now. :D
I'll do some more testing, try and see what's going on.
