None of these apps play video/audio. It loads to a black screen. Logs look clean. Flash issue?

Marcel,

Most apps and players no longer work on the 9816 build.

Same here... Getting nothing from Youtube, Hulu... Sounds like flash based but maybe something else... Running Boxee Beta on Jaunty...

Heratiki

Yeah that's right.. I'm back...

I'm not one to be whiner but wouldn't it be more prudent to include an auto updater? Just a thought...

Hulu video plays fine for me on Jaunty build 98. It also worked fine on the Alpha build for Jaunty. I have not tested build 9816 on Windows yet.

I'm using Jaunty build r9819... Fresh install of boxee this morning... Maybe kernel or flash player upgrades are affecting it?

As Marcel asked, which shows are doing that, what happens when you try to play it and what version of Flash are you using on Jaunty? Logs of what it is doing would also be helpful if possible.

Sorry about that... So far let me go through the apps and I'll let you know...

Anything from video.aol.com - Acts like it's playing but no sound and only a black screen.

Anything from CBS (Ad Supported) - Acts like it's playing but no sound and only a black screen.

Anything from The WB (Ad Supported) - Seems to play but only brings up the webpage and then nothing but black flash and normal website...

Anything from Fox Network (Ad Supported) - Goes to page and gives error Your browser does not have Flash installed. Click here to download the Flash Player. It is trying to load the flash though because where the flash is supposed to be it's a simple swirl moving. (I'm pretty sure this is what the WB is trying to tell me as well just can't see it)

Anything from Hulu (Ad Supported) - Acts like it's playing but no sound and only a black screen.

Anything from Comedy Central (Ad Supported) - Brings up page and then blank flash pad just like WB and Fox.

Only the ones I've tested so far... Where is the boxee.log for Beta?

Heratiki

EDIT: Found the log parsing through it... Getting a lot other errors that I'm checking on now...

EDIT2: Getting a lot of seg faults now so can't even get it running... Going to try and upgrade to Karmic and try then... Will let you know...

At the very least, it sounds like you indeed have a problem with flash. It's been a while since I've done a clean install, so I couldn't say which extra files need to be installed, but it is usually a few things that need to be added to get flash video to work in Boxee-Linux. Best of luck with the upgrade route.

As far as the video-apps go for Boxee-Jaunty, here is what I found so far.
Fox Network: They are part of the Move network (same as ABC), so I wouldn't expect it to work in Linux for the time-being.
Hulu: Hulu video plays fine in Jaunty (from beginning-to-end), however none of the controls work. While video will pause, you won't be able to continue playing the video. (Bug Report: BOXEE-3702 (http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-3702))
Comedy Central: I get the following error when trying to play The Daily Show from Comedy Central: "Error loading stylesheet RSL: http://media.mtvnservices.com/global/flex/rsl/framework_3.2.0.3958.swz failed to load. Error #2046". I'm unsure at this time whether it is the flash on my end or included software Boxee uses.
Crackle: The app works, but only video from apps that work will play.
Onion News Network: The app and video work.
College Humor: Thought video wasn't working earlier, but the video currently appears to be working now.

The Hulu App is not there, however, you can still play Hulu content from TV Library.

At least in the first beta I received, the Hulu app wasn't working correctly so I'm guessing that why it currently isn't there. But like agentlame said, content from Hulu still plays.

TV Library is is kind of a community-coined term.

When we say 'TV Library' what we are referring to is:
Boxee > TV Shows > TV Show Library (from the left-hand menu)

found the shows under tv library, was thinking there were actual apps. anyway i have to say i love the direction its heading but i still have a few concerns. shows can be pulled from fox.com and others and boxee will make it full screen wich is great but why not all sites. i also love the queue feature. long overdue, but why cant i add shows from the apps to the queue? my most watched shows are on the cartoon network app and nick. another thing i would like to have is the shows in the apps show up in the tvlibrary aswell. then i can set my own favorites list instead of going thru all the shows.

This is simply a limitation of the current Boxee API. This will change in the future. :)

Ok so what I posted earlier today here... (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=13529)

Fixed all my Flash Issues... Looks like an issue with pulseaudio for me so give it a try and get rid of pulse and bring back ALSA... Was able to get Youtube/Hulu/Flash based things working again as well as getting around some seg faults and sound issues... Is Pulseaudio killing Boxee again? Hope this helps...

This is what pops up in my log right after starting a:

movie trailer, youtube, joost, hulu, syfy or any other flash stuff.

My pulse has been disabled for quite some time. Boxee is snappy, super smooth with VDPAU on my ION board. Sound also works great.

Oh yeah,.. the above flash stuff worked fine on 14-6992 alpha.

Fixed mine last night & mine worked in the alpha to. I noticed that not even youtube videos would play in firefox. I ended up rebuilding my BoxeeBox since that would take less time then troubling shooting. Works now. Actually works a lot better.

Although I am running an older version, I have noticed many issues, both in and out of Boxee, when utilizing the Flash 10.1 Beta. Uninstalling and reinstalling the public available version made the mentioned feeds work correctly.

Not sure if it is fixed in more recent Betas...

I assume you mean 0.9.20.10069 ?

I'm running 0.9.20.10063, how does one get the latest version?
Tried my email again, but it gave me the same 10063.

EDIT: 10069 is linux.... I assume

I'm running XP.
I run ubuntu on on an older laptopad I like it. I've thought about running it on the HTPC, but I really don't know how to do anything when there is a problem or something needs to be configured...

I was hit with the old Hulu login today as well. For the life of me, I couldn't find the spot to enter login credentials.

Can someone point me to the right spot?

I was trying in both Windows 7 and Ubuntu Karmic (both 64 bit... is this my issue?)

There currently is no way to log in to Hulu with the beta. The Boxee devs are working on it.
