Not sure if this has come up yet. I assume i has but I wanted to write a post about how important fastforward and rewind functions are to me and I assume many others.

At the latest build boxee does a pretty poor job (at least for me) with fast forward and rewind. I am one who would like to hold down the left or right remote key and it would scroll through the video. This becomes particularly problematic when watching video streamed from another source (NAS, etc), I try to fast forward a bit it jumps, then takes time to load the video again, etc.

I would agree that a more controlled way of fast forwarding would be a nice option. I would also add that a +3/2/1 minute fast forward would be nice for commercials on tv shows that are recorded and stored locally

I agree as well, the ability to jump forward by larger increments would be nice. Maybe some modifier keys to fast forward/rewind to increase the amount of time it skips.

Apple's Front Row does this very well. One click hops, subsequent clicks hop exponentially farther. Holding down enters scan mode until play is pressed, holding down longer increases the scan rate. Very usable and simple.

you guys could play around with keymap.xml and lircmap.xml... the options that you can hack around with are pretty extensive.
