This season the NBA has added an option where you can just purchase their online league pass subscription. This would be perfect for Boxee.

I'm seriously looking to drop my Satellite service, and my NBA games are currently the only thing keeping me signed up.

agreed~! i am a life long Lakers fan and their season is the only reason i'm paying $65+ a month to time warner. I'd be more than happy to spend $15-$30 for the live nba season via boxee.
make it happen!

Trust me when I say that as it's currently licensed Boxee should avoid and efforts to offer the league pass broadband product. Also a Laker's fan I purchased league pass broadband last year. It's a mistake I'll never make again. They advertised this as "Never miss a game!" yet due to blackouts I was only able to catch about 20% of Laker games, and almost always only when they were playing small market teams. I live in Seattle so this shouldn't have been an issue of local broadcasting rights. Other issues with the product where completely ignored emails to support and no phone number I could find, an issue where if you started to watch a game currently in progress if the game ended (let's say you were an hour behind real time) the flash stream would reset and push you to a live feed. So you could be in the second quarter and BAM! All of a sudden you hear and see "So the Lakers prevail in an exciting overtime finish...". Finally, for those of you who understand bit rates, the "HD" feed only has about 60% more than the SD feed, which in itself is well below the broadcast standard. So their idea of an HD feed is more pixels (and that is not true 720P) but less data. Bad idea for and feed but especially bad for sports.
I'm a die hard NBA fan but this product is complete junk. Now the broadcast league pass, that is a great supplement to cable/dish, but that's a totally different product.

The league pass application has been renewed and I must say it looks better now.
As far as I can see now it only uses flash and shockwave instead of the RayV Player.
So it could be quite easy to develop such a plugin now?
And for international users it would be great if we get this app on boxee.

The Lakers are rarely on League Pass because they are on National and NBATV more than any other team. Other teams would benefit greatly from this app.

Another vote for NBA League Pass support in Boxee.
I have to wonder, though, is there any hope of the games feed running smoothly under Linux? When I watch it in the browser the Flash plug-in is too slow (on a ION-based machine) - with and without hardware acceleration. Is there any chance it would run fine in Boxee?

Any idea if Boxee is working towards a solution for NBA League Pass? It's pretty silly that all the other players have this and Boxee doesn't. Right now I'm regretting my Boxee purchase because I can't watch the NBA on it.
