I want to start out by saying thank you so much for boxee, this program is the bomb. I had problems loading the software a few times but then something said take a break and read some of the info on Boxee and guess what i found?
I'll tell you soon first for new comers follow the direstions to the T

step one

go to http://blog.boxee.tv/
watch the video: how-to video: boxee on Apple TV

step two How-to installation guide:

Step 1 - Download the ATVUSB-Creator from http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/

Step 2 - Insert a "bootable" USB drive into your Mac

Step 3 - Run the ATVUSB-Creator
- select which plug-ins you'd like to install
- this list will grow over time, but currently includes SSH, Boxee, XBMC, and some binary utilities

Step 4 - Remove the USB drive and plug it into your Apple TV

Step 5 - Power on your Apple TV and the patchstick will run the ATV bootloader (previously the patchstick program was unavailable; people had to manually format their USB drive to be bootable and install the ATV bootloader.)

Step 6 - After the bootloader finishes, remove it from your Apple TV

Step 7 - Restart your Apple TV

Step 8 - It now has options for Boxee / XBMC on the main menu

Step 9 - Click on Boxee, then select update (this will download boxee from the Internet)

Step 10 - Once boxee is done installing, restart your Apple TV

Step 11 - Click "Boxee", then select "Boxee" in the sub-menu to start boxee.

Now back to what I was saying above, what I found what was the problem was not RESTARTing the system completely and doing so the system seems to be working fine. {tip} after the install from the patch stick restart I completely shut the system down the RESTART ,after the update each one I shut down and RESTART think of it was your personal computer each time you add new software to it you should RESTART
no difference this gives the computer time to process what changes where made.

good luck

Step 1 - Download the ATVUSB-Creator from http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/

I assume to a MAC, is there a way to do it if you only have a PC?

Step 3 - Run the ATVUSB-Creator
- select which plug-ins you'd like to install
- this list will grow over time, but currently includes SSH, Boxee, XBMC, and some binary utilities

I don't own a MAC, when you down load to a MAC will the program start automatically? How is it invoked to give you the options?
