Option view mode to browse vertivally instead of horitontally

Sorry to report this but other than in the Boxee home screen I personally really do not like that Boxee default view mode browse horizontally/sideways (to the right and left), instead of vertically (up and down) which is the default in all other media center software applications and devices that I have tried over the years. Yes Boxee list view mode down browse up and down but I would like the default thumbnails/covers view mode to browse vertically (up and down) instead of horizontally/sideways (to the right and left) which I feel is more intuitive, (that is the lay-out of all websites as well, when browsing a website with a webbrowser you scroll from the top to the bottom to view the full page, like you do in this very forum, not from left to right, please don't change it from the way people are used to browsing).

If you won't make it the default view mode then can you please at least add an optional view mode.

hey gamester,

well, when we sat down designing the boxee ui and ux one of our guidelines was vertically moving between different functionality and horizontally moving in them. so currently the basic scheme is like that (and even in the home screen, you move vertically between different types and horizontally in them).

the problem with these types of navigation is that if you want to go up and down between functions you need to go through the whole list (which can be quite large of course) and if you implement that with something like moving to the sides to escape upwards thats even more unintuitive (which is currently the case in the single line view).

i'll think of adding an option for that, but i have to say that we are trying to avoid as much as possible adding too many options and settings - we want to keep the product as simple as possible so users could easily understand whats going on there.

Personally I only like the horizontal browsing in the Boxee home screen (there it is very nice), but everywhere else I would much prefer only vertical browsing, (IMHO, I think that if you would do survey then the majority of people would probably say the same thing) :rolleyes:

Like the idea of the survey currently we are exterminating bugs to stabilize the application as well as gathering all the feedback from our alpha tester guys and gals to always improve the users experience (including the UI) , i believe we will implement a survey in the future to see the how the mass's see the future of boxee...

Different views to accommodate viewing large amount of a specific content would be nice as well a la a "movie wall" as seen in Aeon or better yet Kaleidoscape's gui(when u hover over a movie it will dynamically re-arrange all the surrounding movie's to be of the same type/genre)
