Hey folks,

Here are some issues that I'm experiencing. I'm not sure how many of these can be fixed with setting modifications but I'm hoping that this forum will help me figure that out.

-All the CBS shows produce three white boxes when I try to view them. The progress bar moves and is functioning, I just can't see or hear any of what it's broadcasting.
-I can't get very much out of Comedy Central streaming. Some episodes of the Dave Chappelle and Jon Stewart shows worked but were choppy. South Park- what I'm really looking forward to- plays a couple of commercials and then moves me to a screen that shows "You just watched..." There are also issues with the progress bar but I think I remember reading something about that.
-Internet radio works well. Now I just have to sort through all the channels. Speaking of, it would be nice to create a favourites list to reduce the plethors of choices.
-Hulu doesn't work at all. I'm pretty sure this is because I'm in Canada [tear!].
-CNN works like a charm. Too bad I don't get my news from CNN ;)
-YouTube videos won't play. I click on the link and nothing happens.
-I'm not (as of yet) having any issues with my remote, so that's a definite plus.

I haven't synced any of my own content to the device because I was just hoping to use its internet streaming functions. These, unfortunately, seem to be the most limited in my case. Either way, I'm really looking forward to having this running at full!

Thanks for your time, if any of these issues can be immediately remedied, please let me know.

-Ed

I'm in Canada. You're right about Hulu and there is little Boxee can do about that except to use a proxy.

I haven't tried streaming Internet content.

hi edkean... welcome to the forums, and to boxee's alpha test!

youtube playback is broken in the current alpha build. :(

also, while i thank you dearly for the detailed feedback,
please consider where you post threads.
'announcements' is not the correct place for this type of thread.

edkean,

As iBog says a proxy will solve this "problem". I use HotSpot Sheild. It's great.

Yes, I'm curious to know as well. I have hotspot shield on my PC and Mac, but I don't see any way to have it running on the AppleTV, since it is browser-based for the most part.

So if you made the suggestion of using hotspot shield, how do you use it with AppleTV?

Is there any way for the Boxee people to enable some kind of anonymous proxy for Boxee to enable hulu and cbs and other services to work in Canada or other countries?

I'm new to Boxee. Just got it up and running on my Atv, and it does everything I need it to do, except Hulu. It does not do Hulu. I'm from Norway and would very much appreciate a simple workaround on the Atv, for it to get Hulu to work. I'm able to watch South Park and The Daily Show etc, from Comedy Central, just not Hulu.

I also read somewhere that you could just alter the proxy settings on your Atv. Didn't really quite figure that one out though=)

Massive fan of Boxee, I spend more time just adding stuff and watching it fetch cover art and info, than actually watching the stuff I add.

I'd like to see a more advanced proxy setting as well..

However more importantly.. Can someone suggest a proxy that I can use with Appletv to access Hulu.

If there are any good pay proxies, that might be of interest as well.

Thanks

You can run HotSpot Shield on your Mac, and run a proxy server on the same machine (I'm using Charles, which has a 30-minutes demo).
The problem is that currently, Boxee seems to ignore the proxy setting, as entered in Settings > Network, when it plays Hulu videos.
It uses the proxy to list videos, fetch information about videos, etc. but for the video itself, it skips the proxy, which makes this whole thing non-working!

I have posted this problem here, in case you want to follow-up on this: http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?p=30064#post30064
