.mov files black screen (but with audio)

I'm having trouble viewing any file in a .mov format. The audio plays fine but the video does not show up. I only see a black screen. This is true for both local video files and .mov through applications like GeekBrief and The Radio Control Show. They used to play in Boxee. I am currently running the latest version.

I was able to fix it by doing a fresh install (delete everything and reinstall from scratch). However, this is not the first time this has happened to me. I am not messing with any of the source. It seems to happen from time to time with the updates. Is this happening for anyone else?

Boxee Team: Is this a common occurrence?
