hi championboxer

welcome to boxee

one way is to click on Settings in boxee's main menu, and there choose Media Sources :
- Local Sources are for files stored on your computer or storage devices attached directly to it . select "add new sources " and then browse to the contents location

- Network sources are all those directories on other computers and devices on your local area network.select "add new sources" and select the appropriate device/computer displayed or manually add the IP.

another way of adding a media source is via the Videos/Music/Pictures screen, select the Sources > Add Source.

enjoy

thanks marcel.

unfortunately, my local source only shows:
- frontrow

but my mac does not have frontrow. (old powermac)
and i have browsed through the folders on boxee via ATV, the folders do not seem to be coming from my mac... so i suspect it should be on the ATV... meaning its not streaming off my comp...

any advise?

someone pls advise:

I'm trying to add content
- from the main menu on Boxee, i clicked on "Settings"
- From Settings-> Media Sources and Applications
- Media Sources and Applications -> Local Sources
- However, it only shows Frontrow under local source.
Pls advise how do i add new source

Instead of Local source, i tried Network source
- Network source -> Add network source
As boxee tries to scan for device, Error 2 message appears "Share not available"

Under sys preferences on my Mac, i have turned on "iTunes sharing".

Pls advise. Thanks

you need to enable 'smb' sharing on your mac, then share:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/

then from boxee:
media sources > network > add source...
at which point boxee will scan the available smb shares on the network, and you mac (the shared itunes folder) should be visible.

note: boxee does not work with apf. (mac's native file sharing protocol.)

lemme know if this works.

where to turn on "smb sharing" on the mac?

preferences > sharing > file sharing > advanced...

these directions are relative, as i don't have a mac in front of me. :(
this is also the place where you can share out the directory i mentioned.

if nothing else: open system preferences and search for 'smb'.

managed to locate folder on my Mac via Boxee(ATV)
Problem is there are several movie files (avi, mov, rmvb) in that folder which Boxee did not list them out on ATV.

is there a way to watch these movie files on ATV via Boxee?

all of your movies should be playable in boxee... if some are not showing up, read this:
