After uploaded 400+ photos to my aTV box, and changing the screen saver directory to my photos folder, I noticed two things:
A) My screen saver just displayed as black most of the time. Occasionally I would get an image that would appear. The pattern is consistent: all black, except for lower res images taken with my camera phone... I expect the black is the system trying to hi-res images (full 8 MP images).
B) When ever I would return to my TV after any extended period of time, I would find more often than not (um, like 4:1) that Boxee has exited with an error code (11,10,4). I did not experience this before when using the default Boxee images for the screen saver.
So above is one bug.
Bug #2... there is no way to change the screen saver directory back to the default dir of "/Applications/Boxee.app/Contents/Resources/Boxee/media/boxee_screen_saver" with the Boxee interface. I am pretty sure I tried everything.
My solution to both of the above is to have iPhoto export lower res photos for Boxee. Also, I created a sub-dir to the "/Users/frontrow/Pictures/" dir and copied all the boxee screensaver png files to it so I have that option (however family photos is the preferred choice).
