View Full Version : will this older mac mini work?

If I can get it working, I can get an older mac mini for only the cost of a hard drive.
Its a single intel 1.5, 512mb of ram and OSX 10.4 tiger.
Will boxee with netflix and hulu work with this config. I'm going to get a DVI to Component adapter because I'm going to hook this up to a SDTV using wireless to connect to my network.

I think it will probably work for you, but a little on the slow side. I doubt it will ever play 720p or 1080p content, but your standard DVD 480p Handbrake content should up-res just fine and look ok.

You'll probably need to get some added ram into it. Double to 1 gig should be ok. If this is for a tv for the bedroom or something I would think it will be fine, but for the main living room media experience I would only get a new mini with plenty of power for the long term future of TV content.
