The title is mostly explanatory but basically:

1. I click Play on any file, whether it be analog (stereo) or digital (DTS/Dolby etc etc).
2. No audio is emitted and the receiver doesn't detect any input (the connection is over S/PDIF)
3. I have to press rewind once and then the audio works.

Not a big inconvenience but still a inconvenience.

Wondering if this is because I am using a hackint0sh mac or something else. Yes I have searched the forums but everyone makes mistakes so I may have missed it.

Specs follow:
Intel E6250 (I think)
Asus P5GC-MX/1333 w/ ALC883 audio
8400GS w/ 512MB RAM
80GB OS drive
500GB TV Drive
250GB Movie Drive
Sony STR-DG510 5.1 receiver
S/PDIF optical cable from HTPC to receiver.

I'm having the exact same issue on my Mac mini (Intel, early 2009) using the digital audio out. No sound and erratic video playback; at times stuttering or playing at twice the speed. After rewinding the file plays back as normal, except when switching between audio streams where it reverts to the previous behaviour.

Files are created by Handbrake, using settings slightly modified from the Universal preset. Files play back just fine using VLC.

I opened a support ticket (http://support.boxee.tv/requests/1377). Not sure if that link will work or not. Perhaps this should be moved to the 'bugs? what bugs?' section?

We are aware of issues with digital audio and have added this to our buglist to be fixed ASAP...

Just to add to this, the exact same issue happens to me (24" iMac, 2.78ghz, 3 gigs of RAM) while playing movies with either DTS or DD5.1 soundtracks with audio hardware settings set to Digital.

I found an older version of boxee online (0.9.11) and found the problems don't exist in that build, so I'm using that until this issue gets resolved.

Keep up the good work! Boxee is brilliant.

edit: when using 0.9.14 not only will hitting the rewind button make the digital audio come through but also pausing the movie and then pressing play. In addition, I find with any movie I choose upon selecting it in the main Boxee interface the playback will begin and then within 5 seconds it starts to stutter. Playback will actually grind to a halt, stopping on a still frame of the movie, and at that point pressing pause and then play resumes the movie with perfect playback framerate and the proper digital audio coming through.
