When playing a tv show from within a rar file, boxee wont recognize it and wont allow me to help it recognize (it says "path not source" and the button is disabled)

is this planed to be solved?
I love the feature of playing from a RAR achive without extracting it first, but this bug(?) significantly reduces the value of this feature because it forces me to extract files if I want to get the full value from boxee when interacting with the video file.

I have the exact same question / issue.

When I add folders which contain a TV show or movie to my media source ( an external USB attached to Apple TV running latest version of Boxee) it is not scanned / added to the Boxee library. However I can browse to the folder via the sources screen and then drill down to the rar and play it.

But as the previous poster mentioned when I try to recognize the rar file it tells me that "path not on source" and the recognize icon is grayed out.

Any suggestions?

Same problem here on a Mac. Rar'ed videos cannot be recognized as the button is greyed and saying "path not in source".

this is a known issue ..RAR playback is "technically" supported, but not working on all boxee platforms ..currently not working on ATV..

hi,

I have same problem, using Boxee 0.9.7.4825 on Mac. RAR - Path not in source, and I ahve all videos only in RAR, I dont use normal videos anymore :(

also subtitles searching in RARs is not supported it seems.

I love to see full RAR support, if possible.

Thanks a lot for boxee, it is really cool software, using it every day!

I don't understand why Boxee isn't able to use rar-archives the way XBMC does, as it is based on XBMC.

Too bad, I really liked Boxee and all of it's social network-features. But after three hours of thinking Boxee scanned my files in the background and there still wasn't any movies or TV-shows to be found, I'm going back to XBMC.

I'd rather not extract all 2000 episodes and 300 movies only to be able to use Boxee.

I'll be back when there's full support for rar-archives just the way XBMC handles them. I'm sure this is a big deal-breaker for many users.

I totally agree, useless if it cant read/list RAR files. Hope this feature is on the todo list, because the rest of boxee looks very nice indeed :D

I dont see the point in keeping the video in rar format at all.

I have around 1.5tb of movies and tv-shows in rar-files, i cant play theese, only the Samples.
My friend got me to use boxee because it CAN play rar-files, was this just lies? :)
