I have new parts coming tomorrow and I can start building my new Media Center. I have enjoyed using Boxee very much and have been wanting a nice media center to run with it. I have been using aTV since I joined but I have been wanting to try out HD content and have been unable to do so. Also, Boxee works extremely well with linux and it will be a nice move I think :)

Here is a list of some of the parts going into the media center I'm building:

* 1 x AMD Athlon X2 4450e Brisbane 2.3GHz Socket AM2 45W Dual-Core Processor Model ADH4450DOBOX
* 1 x SILVERSTONE SUGO SG02B-F Black ABS / SECC Steel MicroATX Desktop Computer Case
* 1 x GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

I went with an AMD brisbane core because of the low wattage and the 780G motherboard because of the on board HDMI and the low price. I have 2 gigabytes of memory left from an old system I will be using with this setup as well. The case I'm going with is not a media center case its just one of the small box cases. I didn't buy a media center case because for some reason every company selling a decent one thinks it should come with a premium price tag. Also I'm going to use a Logitech diNovo Mini as a remote for this system. Tomorrow I will have it all built and will start playing with it. Anyways, for anyone interested in stuff like this let me know what you think.

Sounds like a good setup. Let us know how it runs.

Slightly off topic, but I'm interested in developing an open-platform set-top box based on Linux that incorporates some features that I think would be killer with an eye towards potentially developing it commercially. I haven't spoken with Boxee about this, but my guess is that they'd be open to the idea of being an included app on an open platform box.

Anyhow, I'd love to find a few folks who have similar interests to collaborate on it. Let me know if you are interested, and the same goes for anyone else.

Best,
Matt
