View Full Version : Status message distinctions between "Watched" and "Checked out"

I'd like to see boxee make note of the difference between when you watched a show from start to finish (with some slack for stopping earlier than the final end of the file) and just checked something out.

Example... my Feed says I watched Angel. I didn't watch the episode of Angel, I checked it out for less than 5 minutes.

I think many things estimate youve watched something if you watched more than a certain percentage of the item. So maybe if it sees if you watched say 50% of something, it tags it as watched vs checked out (or similar wording). It would also be nice to have this variable be customizable so you could set it to 90% or 45% or similar.

Sounds similar to my rating request here => http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=455 I suggest that Boxee should only flag it as watched if the user fully watch it through or stop it from within 15% from the end of it (ie. view at least 85% of the whole video).

I do not like the idea of a separate flag for "Checked out", it would IMHO be overkill.

K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keep_it_simple_stupid

I'd actually prefer "checked out" personally, but of course – I would take the simple option over nothing

yeah... after giving this some thought... i think 'checked-out' would actually be annoying...

sometimes i go through three of four videos before settling on something.

i agree that you should have to watch a majority of a video, before it's reported as 'watched', though.
