View Full Version : Repository on my Home Web Server?

I am using my web server at home to host an app repository.

I don't want to tie up port 80, so I set up the repository on xxx:57578.

I know that Boxee runs on port 80 - which is why I was surprised that I was able to find my repository and download my demo apps from it.

However, none of the demo apps work when I try to run them from Applications.

Is this problem caused by my repository being on the wrong port? If so, why am I able to find and download my demo apps?

Is running a repository from my web server infeasible if I want to keep port 80 free?

Thanks.

Would really need to get more information on the problem. Please provide some clean debug logs for us to take a look. http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=377

Thanks for the response.

I found my problem - and it didn't have anything to do with my server.

I saved the folder within my compressed app file according to the convention <repositoryid.appname>-<version>, when that was just the naming convention of the zipped file. The folder needs to be named under the <repositoryid.appname> convention, which isn't clearly stated in the documentation.

Can I ask 2 things?

1. If anyone else has a port question, will you please let them know that hosting a repository on something other than port 80 shouldn't be a problem?

2. Can you please provide more precise documentation for creating repositories and uploading apps to them? It looks like other people have had questions about this, and even after looking at their solutions (sp. Ameno) my problem persisted.

Thanks, and keep up the good work. I really dig the product.
