I'm running the latest alpha release on a 24" iMac connected via VGA to a Sony Bravia 32" LCD. I've noticed ever since using Boxee, and the previous alpha release, that my iMac starts to get really warm.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Is there a way of getting boxee to not display anything on the iMac screen whilst playing media on an external monitor? VLC has this feature and it might help someway in alleviating the heat issue.

I really, really like using Boxee but i'm getting concerned for the wellbeing of my iMac and don't want to tempt fate by pushing it too far.

Same with my MacBook. I don't use it as my primary device tho I use an AppleTV but pretty much as soon as I fire up Boxee on my notebook the fans spin up hard..

Seems like the right solution but alas it doesn't appear to work. I will experiment some more tonight.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

One hard reset later and all is peachy on the screen blanking front. Still gets hella hot mind :-(

Same here. The fans on my MBP 2.33 go mad when Boxee is running.
Strangely enough it seems it heats up the most when Boxee is not playing any media. Usually the fans calm down during playback.

Yup, as stated before in another thread (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=3045) I can totally confirm that problem -- as soon as I launch Boxee the fan on my (usually really silent) Mac mini starts roaring...! :(

Not sure why or how that is supposed to be connected to 'screen blanking' though...!? What does that do anyway...?!
