I have a large music library and accessing it via Boxee is a big want of mine. My library is, in my opinion, highly organized. I have both the id3 tags and the file structure and file names all very descriptive. However Boxee shows really weird things. Usually tracks are out of order, named incorrectly and the order/track number listed will be something like 0,0,0,2,2 instead of 1,2,3,4,5.

How is Boxee coming up with this info? I read this post about filename conventions for videos
http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=5214

Is there something similar for music? Is there planned support for ID3? Is there a way to default to just showing the file structure?

Thanks,
Jed

boxee supports id3 as of 0.9.12... but it is still a work in progress.

For one example my album is two discs and were named in the format (Disc# - Track# TrackName.m4a) Renaming the files from:

01-01 Hipsippy Blues.m4a
to
01.Hipsippy.Blues.m4a

Did fix it. But even though I fine my file structure highly organized there is not a super consistent naming convention. I have ~ 300gb of music so renaming everything does not seem like an option. I guess I will have to wait and hope for and ID3 solution. It seems id3 is simpler then a web look up, no? Would love to know other's thoughts and if there is any timeline for id3 support.

Sweet! Is there any thing I have to do to ask Boxee to use the id3 info as opposed to what every else it uses to get the info? I am using 9.12.x. This would be exciting.

What is the other method? Last.fm lookup?

Thanks for your response.

I hope you fix the broken id3 support.
Its really annoying to add a bunch of information to the id3 and not see it show up in Boxee. I went and found a bunch of artwork for many of my albums and Boxee can't seem to find it. I don't have these problems with other media players like itunes or windows media center.

tuens out, id3 has been greatly improved in 0.9.13, which was released today.

i actually finished testing it about two minutes ago... working wonderfully. also fixed, double-disk album recognition!

try having boxee re-inxed your library:
boxee > settings > general > erase library

It doesn't appear to be fixed for me.
I updated to 0.9.13 earlier today and did boxee > settings > general > erase library
Its still pulling up the wrong album art and leaving off the art for other albums.
It is also Incorrectly listing songs as Unknown Album by Unknown.

I did a test. Boxee is having trouble with files on my network drive.

Title Obsession - OP
Artists Original Soundtrack
Album Artists 梶浦由記
Album .hack//SIGN
file name local:
C:\Users\owner\Music\梶浦由記\_hack__SIGN\Obsession - OP.mp3
file name network:
Z:\Music\梶浦由記\_hack__SIGN\Obsession - OP.mp3

In Boxee it displays the Kanji as boxes for the file on my local drive.
In Boxee it displays Unknown Album by Unknown for the file on my network drive.

It displays the artwork for the file on the local drive.
It does not display the artwork for the file on the network drive.

Network Drive: Linksys NAS200

Internet Radios are getting more popular as compared to other types of radios. You just need a phone/computer with an active internet connection.
Recently, I found a very interesting online radio, Free Online Radio (http://www.onlineradio99.com) - Listen to Free Online Radio.
