So where can I get the last mac version BEFORE 0.9.12.6566.

The hackintosh that has run boxee and netflix fairly well is just too wimpy to run the 0.9.12.6566. Netflix has become a slide show.

I don't expect the boxee team to support slow hackintoshs, so I am happy going back to the last version until I upgrade the hardware.

anyone? I would rather not Bit torrent it, unless I have to.

Thanks,

It would be nice to have access to older boxee builds since this is still in Alpha phase.

Regarding the Netflix problem you are having, the older Boxee you are wanting does NOT work with Netflix now. I think you are stuck with the slide show for now.

I had no problems running Netflix on the last version of boxee. The only issue I saw was on fast camera pans was a few dropped frames. After the upgrade to 0.9.12.6566 Pandora is really wacky and I have a slide show engine in place of Netflix.

:eek:really.....what good would rolling back to an older version do? besides push the next version even farther away?? this is alpha software people, test it, submit bug reports, its not for *everyday* use. were lucky that boxee even opened this process to the general public at such an early stage. every bug submitted makes the beta that much better, and rc or release even better.....sometimes I really *do not* get people.

I agree with you. It's fantastic that Boxee has engaged with the community in this way.

However, while I don't want to provoke an argument here (really), I was wondering the same thing: why are prior versions not available on boxee.tv? From Boxee's point of view, it's better to have people using the software -- ANY version of it -- than to turn to an alternative platform because the latest version is unusable for them.

The original poster may not be an SDM officianado, or have any particular interest in SDMs, but I imagine he's precisely what Boxee wants: a real-world user who is eager to test their software and evangelize it to his friends.

So it would be very helpful (to the user, to me, to others, and to Boxee) if you could answer his question, rather than chide him unnecessarily: can prior versions of the software be obtained on boxee.tv and, if not, are they available anywhere?

And, FWIW, on behalf of people perhaps not as technically proficient as you: Thank you. Committed developers and testers like you are the lifeblood of these kinds of initiatives, and we all benefit through your good work.

Yeah, thanks guys that really helps me out. Yeah, get a load of me this guy is complaining about beta software... Oh, wait... I'm not complaining. I love Boxee, I think the dev team is doing an awesome job. It is just the current version does not work for me. The last version did, very well in fact.

I get it. It is beta, but the end result is the same. I'm not going to be submitting any bug reports, as I can't hardly run the current version. So I would rather run the last version and keep evangelizing everyone I know about how cool Boxee is. Rather than wait a month or so for the next version to be released.

the team has said many times they are hard at work on a bug-fix release... 0.9.12SP1, if you will.

it will be out in a few days or so, last i read.

That is good news about the bug-fix release. I'm sure I will try it when it comes out.

So, where can I get the previous version until then? - I'm partly kidding... please put the big flame thrower away. :-) I really don't want to anger anyone here, just make a point that it would be really nice to have access the the previous version(s) of boxee, if the current version is not useable on my system. And... to possibly ask that the decision to only allow access to the current version be reconsidered.

I will sum this up in one sentence....

If dealing with alpha glitches is not something you care to deal with, and one of the NEXT updates comes out and works for you, don't upgrade again until the beta comes out!

At least wait for significant reviews of the then current alpha's bugs are something you can deal with without bitching.

Sorry for the rant but I have seen throughout this forum endusers expecting boxee to work for them. DUH! ALPHA! Then complaining incessantly instead of suggesting a possible solution.... or at the minimum posting their logs so dev's can trouble shoot the issues they are having.

The dev's are working to make boxee better every day even though not enough detail has been given on initial posts and sometimes subsequent posts from a majority of this forum, yet they do.

All I can say is this... Hey! boxee team! Take the weekend off and have a beer! I'll be raising on for ya. Your doing good.......

closing this... there are about 10 'downgrade' threads. they all end the same way, with people arguing.

there will be a fixed version soon enough. please, lets give the team some time here. :)
